About Me

From BMW Master Technician to Science-Driven Data Nerd

After working as a BMW-certified master technician for nearly a decade, I decided that working on vehicles wasn't something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. As COVID-19 began uprooting the long-established norms in our daily lives, I took the opportunity afforded by temporary lay-offs to begin learning to code in Python. Not long afterward, a friend of mine introduced me to the world of SQL. I soon found that my long-established skills in complex critical thought, prioritized project management, and technical writing & translation paired excellently with these new technical skills.

This new knowledge sparked a curiosity in me that led me to enrolling in a Microsoft-partnered Data Analytics career certification course through Springboard - and completing it in under 1/3 of the recommended time. While this program focused heavily on Python and SQL, it also featured the usage of Tableau, Excel, and PowerBI as core skills. Following completion of this course, I began volunteering my skills in data analysis with The Nature Conservancy to examine the efficacy of tree canopies at reducing urban temperatures. This project along with several other projects completed both during and after Springboard's curriculum can be found in my portfolio.
